about

Crazy World.

Recorded in 2009 over the christmas period and into the new year. It was a big step for me after making lots of very low-fi chaotic music and all the instruments were a bit more together. At the time, a wee lad of 14, I was trying to emulate the sound of Velvet Underground & Nico, & The Strokes 'Is This It'. Two albums I listened to a lot.

It was all still very basic, just one cheap mic plugged straight into the computer and running through audacity. I didn't put any effects on the tracks, just panned them and turned the volume up and down. I didn't know any better.

'Crazy World' was a joke name I came up with, as I had a not so crazy life that I found dull at the time.

It was the 9th album so far, after starting from as young as 11, but was the first that I thought stood out. It is still a bit primitive and rough around the edges, but has a lightning in a bottle feel to it, which I couldn't capture now if I tried.
