about

Big Black Car

Recorded in 2011 by Luke Saxton & Jamie Scott-Dyson
Remixed in 2022, with new instruments added.

I thought it could do with just a little more weight and texture in parts, the odd guitar or piano here and there. I tried to do it in a way that didn't disturb the mix.

'Big Black Car' was made at the end of 2010 and beginning of 2011. I had just finished 'Reptile' which was a very Eno/Berlin Trilogy inspired album. It was very Neu sounding and Big Black Car was going in a new direction of more moody, building crumbling apart feel. Purposely playing out of time and moaning out the lyrics with a very teenage atmosphere.

Jamie SD played the drums for most tracks, with me playing guitar and singing live. I would then overdub electric-acoustic guitar and bass, and the odd extra vocal here and there. There were violins, piano and recorders appearing on the odd track too.
